The Silk Myth (and Why We Chose Better)

Why Your Dry Cleaner Is Afraid of Your Silk Scarf

Let’s be honest: Silk is the "high-maintenance friend" of the fashion world. We love the way it looks, but the moment a drop of rain or a stray coffee splash hits it, the panic sets in. Traditional silk care usually involves expensive dry cleaning bills and a lot of "don't touch that."

At Cloudy Windy, we believe luxury shouldn’t feel fragile. Here is how to look after your silk-texture pieces without losing your mind:

- Spot Cleaning is a Trap: With silk, trying to rub out a small stain often leaves a "halo" or water ring. If you must spot clean, use a damp cloth on the entire section, not just the dot.

- The Fridge Trick: Got a stubborn smell on your scarf but don't want to wash it? Put it in a breathable bag and pop it in the freezer for a few hours. It kills bacteria without a single drop of water.

- The "Hand-Feel" Test: Silk can get "crunchy" if washed with harsh detergents. Always use a specialist silk wash, or better yet, a tiny drop of organic baby shampoo.

The Cloudy Windy Take: We love silk, but we designed our Toffee and other scarves to be resilient. Our beechwood modal gives you that liquid shimmer, but if you get caught in a windy rainstorm, it won't be ruined by tomorrow.
